London Fashion Week is back with a bang and it's all about neutral tones, pops of colour and oversized style. The looks for the most part are pretty wearable which is great to see although we all love the drama that the designers bring to the catwalk too.
So what shades were trending at fashion week this year? Well we see a lot of our newer shade; Bordeaux, the deep wine shade is still going strong through Autumn and Winter, its a shade that looks good all year round and goes with any neutral, be it grey, brown, nude or white. We are seeing a lot of oversized coats and jackets in a range of fabrics and shades, giving effortless chic vibes. Chocolate brown is still everywhere and we are here for it, Cocoa Bean is our warm brown shade and it's one of our cosy favourites. Patterns have also been spotted in some shows, with tartan making a come back this year. We are seeing a lot of grey, whether it's street style, work wear or accessories, it's definitely an essential shade for a modern capsule wardrobe.
This year, we noticed the brighter shades that dominated last season were less evident and there were a lot more 'earthy' colours on display. We saw blacks, browns, beiges, whites, greys, blues and greens. These shades are showcased in edgy office looks, with skirts in all lengths making a return to the catwalks. Pairing office looks with knits or layering was a favourite as was denim, particularly denim on denim. Sometimes, when it works it works and denim is one of those, you can change the colour or the cut for a fresh or more modern feel but you can't go wrong with a jean piece.
We saw some fun looks at fashion week too, with pops of bright colour, such as Pink Petunia, be it in fur or feathers. Brightening up your style with a cute hat or bag is a fantastic was of switching up an outfit. In fact, accessories were really dominating this year, we saw bags in so many shades and styles, which makes sense, who leaves home without their handbag nowadays, so why not make it your statement piece in a beautiful Coral Reef shade? Something else that is trending everywhere is the mob wife aesthetic and this is reinforced with all of the faux fur exhibited at fashion week. As the weather doesn't seem to be letting up any time soon, a comfy yet stylish faux fur makes so much sense. Finally, it wouldn't be fashion week without some sheer looks on the runway. The see through trend was popular with a few designers and can be paired with a smart blazer for contemporary evening look. Although this white sheer look is amazing on the model, sheer black just oozes sophistication.
